Best Things to Do in Page
Tour Antelope Canyon
Antelope Canyon is one of the most famous destinations in Page. This slot canyon became well known from photos of the gorgeous light beams that shoot down into it. But, it’s also one of the most beautiful slot canyons with incredible waves carved into the stone.
The only way to see this canyon is to go on an official tour to either the Lower Canyon or Upper Canyon. Today, its is so popular that the tours often sell out months in advance. 😮 However, if you’re willing to be more active you can paddleboard there instead. So, plan ahead to explore the magical beauty of Antelope Canyon.

If you miss out on Antelope Canyon tours, consider booking a tour to Waterhole Canyon down the road!
Spend Time on Lake Powell
Lake Powell is a large reservoir on the Colorado River and it’s one of reason Page draws so many visitors. Incredible sandstone formations line the shores of the water, which makes for a stunning sight. There are so many ways you can choose to get out on the water to explore Lake Powell!
Things to Do on Lake Powell:
- Go paddleboarding
- Take a boat out on the water
- Visit Alstrom Point
- See Rainbow Bridge
- Take a tour of Glen Canyon Dam
Experience Grand Staircase Escalante
Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument is over 1.8 million acres (larger than Delaware) and spreads out over areas of Utah and Arizona. Throughout the monument you’ll find a rugged landscape with unbelievable natural elements. Many of the incredible areas like the Vermillion Cliffs and the Toadstools Trail are just outside of Page!
Things to See Near Page:
- Vermillion Cliffs
- Toadstools Trail
- Paria Canyon
- Coyote Buttes
- White Pocket
Explore Marble Canyon
Marble Canyon got its name from the colorful rocks that line the wall. This stunning area includes sections of both the Grand Canyon National Park and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. It’s truly an incredible area that deserves a spot on your itinerary in Page.
Some of the highlights of visiting Marble Canyon are seeing the California Condors that often fly through and perch along the nearby Navajo bridge. If you’d prefer to get down into the canyon, then you can do the majestic Cathedral Wash trail that leads all the way to the river.
See Horseshoe Bend
Visiting Horseshoe Bend is definitely one of the best things to do in Page. Horseshoe Bend is a gorgeous sight where the Colorado River bends around the canyon walls and creates a stunning picture. This beautiful landmark is just off the highway and is easy to get to!
Tips for Seeing Horseshoe Bend:
🌅 Visit at sunrise or sunset for the best photos, but sunrise will have less people
🥾 Wear comfortable shoes, because it’s a .75 mile walk to the Bend
💵 Parking costs $10, so just keep that in mind!
Visit the Shell Cave
There are plenty of cave formations around the area, but one that has a great payoff for little effort is right behind the Shell gas station. Technically, this cave doesn’t even have a name yet and it’s free to visit!
All you need to do is park your car on the right side of the Shell gas station. 📍 From there, it’s just a few minutes walk to the cave. If you want cool pictures lean against the back wall and take the pictures out to get an arch effect. Definitely worth a stop!
Enjoy The Wave
Aww the elusive Wave. Everyone talks about how magical this place is, but scoring a permit to this destination is next to impossible. In fact, I have applied over 40 times and I’ve never won. 😭 That being said, if you visit Page, you should definitely attempt to win one because it’s insanely gorgeous.
The Wave is a sandstone formation out in the desert. Only 64 people are allowed to go a day and there’s a 6 mile round trip hike required to get there. This magical formation literally looks like a wave made out of red rock. It’s wild!
If you want to read about hiking the Wave from someone that has done it, check out my friend’s blog all about it!
If you’re like me and fail to win a permit, then I highly recommend trying for a permit to South Coyote Buttes. This permit is not as hard to win and you can apply on recreation.gov. While you’re there you can explore crazy rock formations like the hat and the Southern Wave.
You will need 4WD to get to South Coyote Buttes or you can take a tour! ⚠️
Planning a Trip to Page, AZ
How to Get to Page
Unfortunately, Page is not incredibly close to any airports. So, the easiest way to get there is to fly into Vegas or Phoenix, both of which are 4.5 hours away 🚗. Then, you can rent a car to get around the area.
If you are driving, you can always turn a stop in Page into a longer road trip to other beautiful destinations. Zion, Grand Canyon, and Kanab are all incredible spots that are fairly close to Page!
Where to Stay in Page
Page is a smaller city, but there are still plenty of options of hotels, glamping, or camping nearby. Most of the hotels in the area are chain hotels, but they provide good service and are nice for a night or two.
If you are a camper or nomad like me, then there are tons of free camping 🚐 options around Lake Powell and Marble Canyon. You can also stay at Under Canvas Lake Powell or Roam RV Park. You can check out my free campsite map to see more.

Best Time to Visit Page
The best time to visit Page is in the Fall 🍂 or Spring 🌸. During those times of year, temperatures are mild and the scenery is beautiful. In the Fall, you may see some fall colors and in the spring, you may see wildflowers blossom. It also tends to be less crowded if you visit during the week.
The best time to visit Page is in the spring or fall! ☀️
That being said, winter is a great time to visit if you really want to avoid the crowds. Although it does get cold, it’s much more temperate than other areas. Summer, on the other hand, is extremely hot with highs in the 90s. That being said, our tour guide said summer is his favorite time of year there!
Packing Guide for Your Trip
Page, Arizona is in the desert, which means that it is very dry and hot a lot of the time. 🌡 So, pack plenty of sunscreen and water for all your activities! If you are visiting in the cooler months then you will want layers, because the nights typically get cold!
I would also pack a nice pair of comfortable shoes or hiking boots, because a lot of the best things to do in Page are outside! If you follow those tips then you’ll be in great shape.
